About the Instructor

With a background rich in education, creativity, and community engagement, Sami is not just an artist but a facilitator of artistic exploration and expression. Her commitment to making art accessible and enjoyable for all shines through in every facet of her work.

Sami's artistic journey began with the pursuit of a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Art History degree in the vibrant setting of New York City. Her diverse expertise encompasses the development of curricula and instruction for art classes tailored to various age groups, ranging from 2 to 14 years old. Sami extends her artistic guidance to private home teen art lessons, conducts adult instruction in the popular "paint and sip" sessions, and has furthered her impact by working with Chinese students as an ESL teacher.

Samantha Walker-Baskin, known as Sami, is a freelance artist with a passion for creating custom artwork and infusing joy into the art experience through her unique concept of "artfun." Based in West Dayton, Sami's artistic endeavors go beyond traditional painting. She is the creative force behind face painting parties, adding a playful touch to celebrations, and she plays a pivotal role in managing the developing cooperative, the Westside Makerspace.
